Tasting Note

A warm, spicy nose with freshly cracked black pepper, allspice and ripe plum. Good concentration of sappy red berry and dark fruits are balanced by fresh acidity. The varietal characters of each cultivar complement each other well in this subtle and fragrant Coastal Region compote.

Located on the very edge of the south-eastern corner of the Cape’s Coastal Region, spanning over the top of a mountain near the town of Franschhoek, the Wildeberg farm had never before hosted grapes as their main produce until recently a generation of “happy band idealists” decided to give it a go! These wines express the most captivating fruit of the Franschhoek region and convey the continued purpose – exceptional wines of place, however humble the origin.
