Grand Cru Geisberg in Ribeauvillé – a nugget ! One of the 3 smaller Grands Crus in Alsace, only 8,53 ha. Our 2,6 ha plot is based marl, limestone and sandstone soil. The vines are over 50 years old, planted in small terraces with steep slopes facing South – a unique terroir. Riesling has been king in the Geisberg for centuries.
The aromas are very delicate : yellow stone fruits, herbs, white flowers. The ripe acidity is coupled with beautiful ripeness. Energy, power and finesse lead to greediness with exceptional balance and length in this dry Riesling. Salty and textured on the palate. A baby with lots of ageing potential.

“From 45-year-old vines in a southwest-facing, vertically lined 2.66-hectare plot, the 2019 Riesling Grand Cru Geisberg is very clear and coolish, even herbal and floral on the intense and finely concentrated nose. Full-bodied and quite rich in texture, this is a very intense, powerful and sustainable, firmly structured Geisberg with an aristocratic, Protestant character. The wine is pure and saline on the finish and herbal again, very intense, long and saline. This is a long-distance runner and a great wine! 14% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2024. Tasted again at Trimbach on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Clos Ste Hune at the beginning of November, the 2019 Geisberg is very intense and concentrated on the clear and elegant bouquet that indicates ripe and intense fruit. Powerful, rich yet elegant and mineral on the palate, with a long, intense and powerful finish, this Riesling is an almost too rich to be enjoyed at this early stage.
