🍷 Teusner Wines – ‘Avatar’ Grenache Mataro Shiraz
Producer: Teusner Wines
Country: Australia | Region: South Australia | Appellation: Barossa Valley
Style: Red Wine | Grapes: Grenache, Mataro (Mourvèdre), Shiraz
🇦🇺 A rich and expressive GSM blend from the heart of Barossa, showcasing old-vine fruit, spice, and finesse in perfect harmony.
🎨 In the Glass:
Deep crimson-plum hue with ruby flashes—indicative of ripe fruit concentration and Barossa warmth.
👃 On the Nose:
A heady mix of dark berries, plum compote, and blue fruits, lifted by notes of Asian spice, liquorice, earth, and hints of dark chocolate and cedar.
👅 On the Palate:
Full-bodied yet beautifully balanced, with plush, supple fruit wrapped in fine-grained tannins. A thread of bright acidity gives lift and drive, carrying through to a long, savoury finish. Rich, spicy and textural, with all elements in elegant sync.
🪵 Winemaker’s Touch:
Handcrafted from low-yielding, dry-grown old vines, Avatar captures the soul of Barossa’s most iconic varieties. Aged in seasoned oak to enhance texture without dominating the fruit.
🍽 Food Pairing:
A perfect partner to slow-roasted lamb, game meats, duck confit, or eggplant moussaka. Also wonderful with aged cheddar or a charcuterie board.
✨ Why You’ll Love It:
Avatar is a modern Barossa blend that celebrates fruit purity, elegance, and complexity—a wine with both immediate appeal and the structure to reward cellaring. A must for fans of expressive, layered reds.
