Robert Oatley Vineyards is the latest venture of the Oatley family winemaking dynasty, which was founded by the late industry legend Bob Oatley. His legacy continues in his eldest son Sandy, who worked alongside his father for many years and manages the business today.
Created in 2006, Robert Oatley Vineyards aims to embody the best that Australia can produce where classic grape varieties are matched to the leading wine regions of Australia. Along with grapes from the family properties, some dating back to 1858, the Oatley family draw upon select growers of excellence across a diverse range of climatic regions. A deep understanding of viticulture enables the team to identify the best vineyard sites in Australia.
The talented winemaking team is led by Larry Cherubino – one of Australia’s most awarded winemakers.
VIneyards
The average age of vines is 18 years, trained using VSP system, planted on laterite soils.
Vinification
Hand harvested and hand selected whole bunches were gently pressed. The fermentation took place in new French oak barrels. The wine was matured for 9 months in new French barriques.
Tasting Notes
Complex and restrained with roasted nuts and nougat flavours and hints of citrus blossom. Ample texture and long, fine finish.
A great match to grilled turbot, grilled veal chops with mushrooms, grilled vegetables such as red peppers, corn, butternut squash or pumpkin ravioli.
