Quinta do Crasto Douro Tinto Reserva Vinhas Velhas Old Vines 2023

 The 2022 Reserva Old Vines (average age of 70 years) was aged for 16 to 18 months, depending on vineyard plots, in 65% new (85% French) oak.  An old vine field blend- so, many varieties co-planted in old vineyards harvested together- as was the case back in the day! This represents 38 of Crasto’s 42 plots and/or small vineyards of old vines, Intense and lifted aromas of cigar box, tobacco leaf, spices, cedar and vanilla, combined with fresh dark berries and ripe plums. A rich, full and round palate of great balance, displaying rich Douro berry fruit characters and a delicious savoury edge, with supple tannins and a long finish. Lovely now, for sure will age well too.
