Islay’s Bruichladdich might be known for its unpeated single malts, but the Octomore series, also made at the distillery, really packs a peated punch. This release, a 12-year-old expression, was drawn from a single second-fill rivesaltes sweet fortified wine cask. The result? Something deliciously smoky with a riot of tropical fruit, brown sugar, chocolate praline and deep herbal notes. Just 300 bottles have been released just for the UK – it’s must-taste for peated whisky lovers.
