Loch Lomond is probably Scotland’s most versatile distillery in terms of the number of different styles of whisky produced for different purposes on one site. In addition to its two traditional pot stills and a Coffey still, the distillery is also equipped with four Lomond stills, these have a traditional pot still base, but with the addition of a rectifying column instead of the traditional swan necks. Varying the distillation techniques has enabled the distillery to produce no less than eight different single malts (plus numerous grain whiskies and blends) of different styles on one site.
18yo
Loch Lomond 18 year old Single Malt is a perfect representation of Loch Lomond’s signature style, with mouth-watering notes of baked apple and rich toffee and gentle wood smoke on the finish in the typical style of Loch Lomond Whiskies.
Aged in three types of American oak casks, Loch Lomond 18 year old is bottled at 46% and non-chill filtered to keep things as nature intended. This expression is brought together by master blender, Michael Henry, whose signature adorns each bottle.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Old oak furniture and tobacco, supported by sweeter notes of honeyed cereal.
Palate: Nutty brown bread with a thin layer of blackcurrant jam. Slight smokiness along the way.
Finish: Lingering peat – not too strong, but easily noticeable.
