The 2023 Chardonnay Rochioli Vineyard is a potent, intensely mineral wine, a Chardonnay that captures the personality of this site. Broad and ample on the palate, the 2023 possesses superb textural intensity and the drive to match. Slate, mint, white flowers, chalk and dried herbs linger on the polished, salivating close.
The Rochioli family has grown grapes on their property since the late ‘50s. The vineyard is now farmed by the third generation. The Ramey Rochioli blend is usually 82% Mid-40 block and 18% River block. The rows from Mid-40 block are Clones 5 (planted 1995) and 76 (1995 & 1998) and the rows from River block are Clone 5 (1989). Native yeast fermentation and malolactic in barrel with regular battonage. 20 months in 20% new François Frères and Taransaud Beaune French oak barrels.
