Speyside distillery Glentauchers has long been prized as a top-quality whisky for blends – but today, whisky lovers in the know are seeking it out in its own right. This light, ethereal release seems delicate at first sip, but dig in and you’ll discover a wealth of floral, herbal, irresistibly lush complexity. A rewarding, deeply satisfying single malt.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Intricate, complex and pleasingly detailed, the nose opens with fresh, vibrant florals, delicate citrus peels, toffee apple and mint leaf. There’s the tanginess of a freshly picked apple, along with salt dough, red cherry, and a subtle dusting of pine needles.
Palate: Crisp, soft and precise, a gentle warmth builds through a gentle palate with cumin and mace. The fruit turns darker, with raisins, sultanas and even chocolate-coated biscuits. A crack of black pepper builds texture, and tomato leaf and wood spices build a savoury element.
Finish: Long and drying with more woody notes and dusty spices, reminiscent of a bakery.
