The Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is a crisp, vibrant white wine from the estate’s Jonkershoek Reserve range, crafted to showcase purity of fruit and freshness of style. With its lifted aromatics and layered palate, it captures the essence of Stellenbosch Sauvignon Blanc in every glass. With its lively acidity and soft, creamy finish, this is a versatile white that works beautifully as an aperitif or alongside food. It is a wine that appeals equally to casual drinkers and seasoned enthusiasts, thanks to its combination of vibrancy and sophistication.
Winemaking:
The grapes for the 2024 vintage were sourced from three blocks in the Jonkershoek Valley, planted between 1998 and 2014, on soils of decomposed granite, sandstone, and clay. Harvesting took place in the early morning to preserve freshness, with all work carried out by hand. Grapes were sorted, crushed, and cooled before undergoing six hours of skin contact to enhance flavour complexity. After gentle pressing, the juice settled for 48 hours under a protective dry ice blanket. Fermentation occurred at cool, controlled temperatures of 12–14°C over 10 days, ensuring precision and purity. Extended lees contact contributed subtle creaminess and weight to the final wine.
Pairing Suggestions:
This Sauvignon Blanc is a versatile partner at the table. It pairs wonderfully with oysters topped with spicy cucumber and lime granita, seared scallops in citrus butter, or grilled asparagus finished with lemon zest and parmesan. Vegetarians will also enjoy it alongside dishes such as roasted courgette with herbed goat’s cheese, citrus-dressed quinoa salad, or a fresh pea and mint risotto. Its crisp acidity and refreshing flavours make it ideal for lighter, summery dishes where freshness is key.
Tasting Note:
Brimming with flavour and finesse, this Sauvignon Blanc combines freshness, minerality, and elegance. Aromas of Granny Smith apple, gooseberry, and white peach rise from the glass, supported by hints of lemongrass and delicate florals. The palate is bright and zesty, combining crisp green fruits with white pear and subtle minerality. Extended lees contact contributes to a rounded, creamy mid-palate, while the finish is long, refreshing, and lifted by citrus and herbal notes.
