This exquisite Sauternes comes from a quaint family estate. For 160 years, the talented women of the Leglise family have been crafting wines at Chateau Lamourette, with the current owner and visionary, Anne-Marie, at the helm. This limited production comes from a mere 10 hectares of vineyards, some of which are over 40 years old. Less than a kilometre from Château d’Yquem.
Chateau Lamourette Sauternes is a masterful blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, expertly crafted to perfection. The grapes are carefully selected and allowed to be affected by Botrytis, also known as Noble Rot, which imparts a unique and concentrated flavour. The harvest begins in mid-to-late September and takes place in several stages, ensuring each parcel has time for the Botrytis to fully develop. Fermentation occurs in small stainless steel vats, while ageing takes place in a combination of stainless steel and oak barrels for optimal flavour.
