The 2021 Cantine Povero Cabanè Langhe is a velvety, full-bodied red that marries rich fruit intensity with elegant spice and toasted complexity, making it a standout choice for lovers of sophisticated Piedmont wines.
Cabanè represents their first international blend, born from the winemaker’s desire to showcase both power and finesse.
Winemaking for Cabanè begins with hand-harvested grapes fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 28–30 °C for 12–15 days. Malolactic fermentation follows at 20 °C before the wine undergoes extended aging in the family’s cellar, where it develops intense toasted and spicy notes from careful oak maturation.
This wine is special because it embodies the Povero family’s savoir-faire: a harmonious blend that delivers full-body richness, a complex bouquet of red fruits and spice, and a velvety texture that lingers. Its long cellar aging ensures depth and elegance, offering both immediate pleasure and the potential to age gracefully for years to come.
Pairing Suggestions: Mushroom and truffle risotto or wild mushroom lasagna; grilled rosemary lamb chops or beef stew with root vegetables.
Tasting Note: Intense ruby red with garnet reflections; notes of rose, ripe red berries and tobacco evolve to cinnamon and toasted oak; the palate is vigorous yet smooth, with polished tannins and a long, spicy finish.
