Drawing on 30 years of winemaking experience, you can trust Cristom’s Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay to be among the most evocative in the world. Here, two forces of nature come together – consistent sunshine and chilled Pacific winds that descend the coastal ranges onto the vineyards, imparting a crispness that complements the acidity of the grapes.
The 2020 Chardonnay from Cristom’s Eola-Amity Hills features Paul Gerrie Vineyard at an impressive 800ft, characterised by strong winds and volcanic soils. These distinct terroir components contribute to the structural integrity and dynamic phenolics of the wine. Additionally, the Seven Springs and Von Oehson Vineyards provide ample body, weight, and length.
Cristom winemaker and vineyard manager Daniel Estrin explains that Cristom’s intended Chardonnay style is like “riding the knife’s edge between tension and generosity.”
Tasting Note: Abounding with concentration, texture, and a riveting mineral edge. A balance between citrus and aromatic florals. Bearing an aromatic complexity marked with subtlety and nuance, the Chardonnay is perfumed by hints of lemon verbena, chamomile, pineapple, lemon zest, tangerine peel, and pear.
