Welcome to Château Rauzan-Ségla’s second wine: ‘Ségla’ Margaux.
From one of the great Bordeaux vintages, as per Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate: “Forget everything you know about Rauzan-Ségla, all those vintages you have tasted in the past. 2015 is a whole new ball game…There is a sense of completeness and harmony here…such a favorable growing season has resulted in a killer wine that will turn out to be the greatest modern-day release from the estate.”
But let’s see how our own Jancis Robinson feels about the Château Rauzan-Ségla ‘Ségla’ Margaux: “One of the more surprising results was just how well Ségla, the second wine of Château Rauzan-Ségla, showed. It was the second-favourite wine overall in the blind Margaux flight, nestling between Château Rauzan-Ségla and Pavillon Rouge de Château Margaux. And some of us – seven out of 18 highly professional tasters – even scored it higher than Rauzan. The second wine is certainly even more pleasurable to drink now, and costs only about a quarter the price of Château Rauzan-Ségla itself.”
High praise indeed from two of the most-noted palates in the market.
Tasting Note: Teeming with succulent fruit and a modern style, sure to please many. Beautiful aromas, dominated by plum and blueberry, raspberry and strawberry. A delight to drink now, but will blossom with time.
