The 2021 vintage at Moorooduc Estate had a mild and gentle season with scattered rain, resulting in excellent fruit growth and less vine stress. This highlighted the different microclimates in the vineyards and led to a relaxed harvest, extending into late March. The result: vibrant wines with natural acidity and fine structure.
Vinification: Hand harvesting | Whole bunch pressing | 100% barrel fermented in 3-5 year old French oak | 10 months in wood on lees with 1 racking prior to bottling | Light fining and filtration
Tasting Note: Pale gold with a fragrant nose of rose petals, honeysuckle, ripe yellow pear, perfectly ripe quince and subtle all spice notes. Rich and savoury on the palate with more finesse and elegance than expected from the nose. Pear skin and roasted quince vie with attractive phenolic texture and some nutty savouriness and savoury spice. Fine and long on the finish.
Origin: Mornington Peninsula, Australia
Blend: Pinot Gris
