Tucumen – Reserve Malbec 2019

Fine Wine from Our Bottle Shop and Taproom:

A well balanced wine between oak and fruit; a bouquet of cherry, plum and blackberry with spice notes of cinnamon and vanilla. It has a strong and elegant palate with rounded, sweet tannins.

Grapes are sourced from Tucumens two estates in Mendoza: Agrelo in Lujan de Cuyra at 985m and planted in 1935, at La Consulta in San Carlos at 1080m and planted in 1996. The soils are silty, alluvial sand, and river rock, the climate Continental and warmer than other parts of the region.

Tucumen Reserve Malbec undergoes 30 days fermentation with daily pumping over at 20-28C. It is aged for 12 months, 50% in French and American oak barrels of second and third use.

Taking its name from the Budeguer family home in TUCUmán and their winery home in MENdoza, the Tucumen label was commissioned from leading designer Guillo Milia. The colours are inspired by the painted houses of the old town of Boca, and the typefaces from old street posters of the 1930s and 40s with the aim to reflect both the Mendoza and Tucumán regions. The collage conveys the cultures, styles, colours and textures of the two lands whilst highlighting the exciting, bright, fun and expressive nature of the wines.
