Heaven Hill was founded shortly after the repeal of Prohibition in 1935. Heaven Hill’s location in the historical home of bourbon-making, coupled with its status as the only such company still under local ownership, has led it to take a role in curating and advertising bourbon tradition. In 2004, the Bourbon Heritage Centre was opened on distillery grounds, featuring historical exhibits and guided tours of the plant. The company also hosts the annual Kentucky Bourbon Festival, and many of the company’s own labels are named after famous local distillers.
Elijah Craig Small Batch
Elijah Craig Small Batch is the signature Bourbon bearing the name of Rev. Elijah Craig, a Bourbon pioneer who is credited as the first distiller to age his whiskey in charred oak barrels. Long before the term Small Batch even existed, our Master Distillers were hand-selecting just the right number of barrels to make Elijah Craig. This expertise and attention to detail give Elijah Craig Small Batch the right balance of rich flavour and full body for a warm spice and subtle smoke flavour.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Honeycomb, fresh cedar, marmalade and some spicy cardamom seed.
Palate: Baked apples with a dusting of cinnamon, followed by fresh honey and cookie dough.
Finish: Lingering nutmeg and charred oak.
