Produced by the team at Mas La Mola, L’Expressió del Priorat offers the structure of classic Priorat while being ready to drink in its youth. Most of the fruit hails from younger vines in Mas La Mola’s vineyards, supplemented by grapes from two additional vineyards the estate manages. Farmed organically, the vines are planted on the region’s distinctive llicorella slate soils and have an average age of 20 years old. Winemaker Jordi Masdeu wants to preserve the freshness of the wine, so the blend of 70% Garnacha and 30% Cariñenais left in stainless steel for eight months before bottling.
A true expression of the Priorat region, powerful and seductive with blueberry fruit on the nose and the classic flinty mineral character of the wines from this region. Juicy and fruit-driven with tender tannins and plenty of acidity. Smooth and luscious on the palate with a grippy texture, hints of herbs and spices and a long fleshy berry and black cherry finish.
This is a true expression of Priorat: powerful and seductive with blueberry and classic flinty mineral notes. It is elegant, with good concentration and a lovely freshness, a combination that makes L‘Expressió a very approachable wine with an excellent quality-to-price ratio.
